In this paper we discuss equations that define a thermally expandable fluid transient. We then present a set of finite difference equations for the numerical solution of such transients, discuss their solvability, and investigate certain aspects involving the convergence of the numerical solution. Finally, we apply these ideas to a problem involving flow in the preheater section of a steam generator.
