A procedure is described for calculating approximate photoneutron yields from thick beryllium targets exposed to the x radiation produced in thick tungsten targets bombarded with 2- → 8-MeV electrons. It is based on empirical relations developed for predicting the average thick tungsten target radiation yield and the average beryllium photoneutron cross section for the selected incident electron energy.
