In this paper, we briefly review the application of the pulsed neutron activation method in flow measurements. We discuss the steps necessary to implement this method and the numerical techniques for data analysis and calculation of the mass flow rate. We also present the analytical solution of the transport equation in a cylindrical pipe to investigate the behavior of the mean concentration as a function of travel time of the activity in the pipe and the distance between the neutron generator and gamma detector.
