The optimization of squared-off cascades for isotope separation is discussed. Criteria are developed for determining the optimal transition concentrations between the square sections of the squared-off cascade. Equations are presented from which the optimal values of the cascade parameters that maximize the separative efficiency of the cascade can be obtained. Numerical results of calculations for cascades producing low-enriched uranium are also presented.
