Theoretical models are developed to evaluate kinetic data corresponding to gaseous fission product retention by solid surfaces. A specific study is performed for the iodine/iron system. The results are in good agreement with the experimental values. The contribution of surface/gaseous fission product retention in nuclear power plants is estimated.
