A number of sodium fire experiments have been analyzed using the SPOOL-FIRE code, which is available from the Argonne Code Center. Good agreement is observed between theoretical calculation and experimental results. The same experiments have been analyzed previously by workers using the SPRAY-1 and CACECO codes, and our results are compatible with the results from these codes. SPOOL-FIRE is a fast-running code and can handle both sodium spray fire and pool fire simultaneously. Results of this analysis suggest specific areas where experiments are needed to further our understanding of the mechanism of sodium burning.
