An Inexpensive Pump for Liquid Sodium

An inexpensive, commercially available linear actuator has been modified into a small annular linear induction pump for sodium. Sodium temperatures <300°C may be conveniently pumped at pressures up to 2 psi. The total cost, including a cooling fan, is less than $100.
