Detailed postirradiation examinations were performed on six fuel assemblies from Piqua Core I. The assemblies were examined for mechanical integrity, organic coolant deposition (primarily in the heat-transfer regions), and fuel burnup capability. Fuel cylinder dimensional measurements indicated the assemblies could reach their design average burnup of 3000 MWD/MTU.
