A radioactive tracer technique was developed for evaluating the condensation-evaporation coefficient at the liquid-vapor interface of mercury for isothermal equilibrium. Five studies conducted at vapor temperatures of 92.1, 111.4, and 123.6°C resulted in a coefficient of 1.02 ± 0.05 for a clean system. Visual examination during the exchange process showed that film condensation occurred during the studies.
