Mean Gamma-Ray Energy Absorption Coefficients

Mean energy absorption coefficients have been calculated for H, C, H₂O, Al, Ar, Fe, Mo, Pb, and U for the published distribution of gamma rays of a number of reactors and for certain other gamma-ray spectra. An exponential distribution of gamma-ray energies approximates many of the observed spectra and gives mean absorption coefficients that can be useful in the absence of detailed knowledge of a spectrum.
