Migration of Xenon through a UO₂ Matrix Containing Trapping Sites

Recent developments concerning the mechanism for volume diffusion of xenon in UO₂ and the defects observed in irradiated UO₂ by electron microscopy are reviewed with detailed reference to recent results obtained at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratory (CRNL). An earlier interpretation for xenon diffusion in a matrix containing pre-existing and irradiation induced trapping sites is extended.
