Incomplete Neutron Thermalization in Light Water Ice at 77, 21, and 4 K

It has been observed both experimentally and theoretically that cooling ice assemblies below 40 K do not significantly change their steady-state neutron spectra. It is shown that this incomplete thermalization in ice below 40 K is due to diffusion hardening.
