The effective cross section for the ¹⁶O(d, n)¹⁷F reaction for fission neutrons moderated by D₂O has been calculated, using the recoiling deuteron formalism of Hammar and Forsén. A value of ∑_n = 4.8 × 10^-7 cm^-1 is reported.
