Changes in the absorption rate of neutrons by nuclei resulting from changes in motion of those nuclei have been observed by rotating an absorbing foil of ¹⁷⁶Lu in a beam of thermal neutrons at rates up to 2 × 10³ rps. An analysis is presented which is satisfactorily confirmed by the experimental results.
