Three new difference schemes for solving the neutron transport equation are presented. In some situations these new methods give smoother results than the diamond difference scheme, without sacrificing second-order accuracy. Iteration schemes for solving the new difference equations are given, and convergence acceleration devices are discussed. Numerical results illustrate the behavior of these new schemes in a variety of situations.
