A simple point kernel model is presented for the calculation of skyshine exposure rates arising from the atmospheric reflection of gamma radiation produced by a vertically collimated or a shielded point source. This model is shown to be in good agreement with benchmark experimental data from a 60Co source for distances out to 700 m.
