P1 blackness theory for infinite cylinders is developed in a manner analogous to the case of infinite slabs by defining effective diffusion theory cross sections in the “black” region which reproduce the desired boundary condition at the surface. Results of numerical analysis of a model problem are presented and the relative improvement of P1 blackness theory over normal P1 theory is compared with similar results for infinite slabs.
