Neutron Scattering by Water Taking into Account the Anisotropy of the Molecular Vibrations

A scattering kernel has been obtained for H₂O which takes into account the anisotropic nature of the molecular vibrations, in contrast to the isotropic nature of the Nelkin kernel. Detailed comparison of both models shows that the anisotropic model gives 5 to 7 per cent better agreement with experiment.
