Measurements with nuclear track emulsions at several synchrotrons and calculations of the low-energy neutron cascade show that the neutron spectrum transmitted through high-energy accelerator shields depends on shield thickness and water content. Calculated and measured spectra show the same general behavior and dependence. Experimental data by other workers are in agreement with our results.
