Comparison of many experimental methods and investigation of their systematic errors are indicated for the measurement of the ratio of the epicadmium ²³⁸U neutron capture rate to the subcadmium ²³⁸U capture rate in a slightly ²³⁵U-enriched (1.143%) fuel rod. An explanation of the discrepancy between theory and experiment is given.
