Piecewise polynomial approximations generalizing the Kang and Hansen Hermite methods are applied to the nuclear reactor kinetics equations. Some of the methods proposed here are strongly A-stable and therefore quite efficient in the presence of extreme stiffness, as shown by numerical results for some typical test cases.
