The flexible Heliac TJ-II is a medium size device (R=1.5 m, <a>=0.2 m,B(0)=1.0 T) in an advanced stage of construction at Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas MedioAmbientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), Madrid. The problems encountered during manufacturing so far have been solved satisfactory. Nevertheless the narrow tolerances, which result from the compact machine design, create real challenges for all the component manufacturers. In this paper we present the present status of the project with a particular emphasis on the construction situation of the main components.
