A role of natural convection as a mean providing enhanced safety of nuclear reactor is discussed. A comparative analysis of factors affecting the efficiency (power, power density in fuel) of reactor with water, liquid-metal (sodium, lead), and molten salt (fluorides) coolants operating under natural convection regime is presented.
