A fission reactor safety concept providing for fission excursion abatement following a temperature excursion is here described. This concept is based on the in-situ placement of trigger isotopes in the core which upon a temperature excursion promptly breed strong neutron absorbers thereby generating negative reactivity. No external controller action is necessary.
