Radiological parameters relevant for the safety of compact fusion machines are defined, dealing with waste management, maintenance and inspection, accidental releases. Reference neutronics and activation calculations for the Ignitor compact fusion experiment are described. Results of the reference activation analysis are compared with the requirements, in terms of global radioactive inventory, short-term and long-term activation, mobile doses. Optimization studies on materials to minimize radioactive inventory and improve radiological parameters are carried out.
