Experimental results of an alpha-particle diagnostic scheme based on the ⁹Be(α,n₁γ)¹²C reaction are discussed. This reaction would be suitable for a wall-mounted diagnostic scheme in deuterium-tritium fusion to obtain information about the alpha-particle distribution above 1.7 MeV, where charge-exchange reactions would be less informative.
