ARIES-I incorporates modest extrapolation of existing physics with advanced technology in the fusion-powercore design. The ARIES-I design implements a modular approach to fusion-power-core assembly and maintenance. The removal and installation of components is performed more quickly using a modular design by eliminating subtasks which are performed in a hot-cell while the reactor resumes operation and goes back on-line. The maintenance scenario for ARIES-I has been outlined and the major tasks have been identified.
