Fusion-Fission Hybrid Reactor Research and Development Program in P.R. China

The necessity and technical feasibility of a Fusion-Fission hybrid reactor for supporting PWR nuclear power station in China has been investigated both through parametric system studies and some key R & D technology. The main aim is to study the reality for fuelling an experimental fusion-fission hybrid reactor at the befinning of the next century in China, of course feasibility of the commerical hybrid reactor producing tons of fissile material per year also outlined. The study demonstrates that the fusion-fission hybrid reactor has the potential to solve the problem for energy demand of the middle of the next century in China.
