A program and procedure are described which were developed to analyze the affect of anticipated TFTR operating faults when the machine was to be used in an operating mode which was higher than design current rating of the poloidal coil system. The design criteria for this program included the definition of the most pessimistic operating fault scenarios, the development of an analogue program to model and observe the time history of the event and several comparison programs used to tally the maximum force condition of each coil during the run and to compare and tally the maximum coil currents, forces and ΔI2t stresses from several runs.
