A key part of the recent FED/INTOR activity was focused on examining the critical issues and developing credible physics and engineering solutions for the impurity control system. The work emphasized the edge-region physics, plasma-wall interaction, materials, engineering, and magnetic considerations of the peloidal divertor and pump limiter. This paper summarizes the key results.
