Multilayered Blanket Concept for Tritium Breeding Assemblies Blanket Engineering

The multilayered concept of the fusion blanket is introduced, and it is shown that with this concept the lithium inventory can be reduced by an order of magnitude compared to that in the block concept for the same breeding ratio. For example, a simple multilayered fusion blanket using such common materials as lead, water, and natural lithium with an overall radius of 44 em gives a tritium breeding ratio of 1.2.
