The branching processes involving all first-generation progeny reaction products of deuterium-based fusion systems are investigated. It is shown that a generalized formulation of various deuterium-deuterium burn modes can be specified and explicit expressions for the extent of branching established. Specific branching ratios and selected associated rate expressions are evaluated for the case of catalyzed fusion modes sustained for steady-state burn by appropriate ion seeding.
