Laser Fusion Research in the USSR

The history of laser fusion experiments in the USSR is briefly reviewed. Stress is placed on recent key experimental and theoretical results. These results, taken together with data from the worldwide laser fusion community, support the feasibility of break-even and high-gain targets. Concepts for both pure fusion and hybrid reactors are outlined.
