ANS Statement: Latest at Fukushima
Magnitude 7.3 earthquake strikes off Japan’s east coast

The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is closely monitoring the latest developments in Japan after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck near the Fukushima nuclear site.
Japan’s Meteorological Agency has issued Tsunami advisories, and warns residents to not get in or approach the coasts until the advisory has been cleared.
The quake, which struck Saturday morning at 3:10 a.m. Tokyo Time, could be felt for nearly 300 miles.
