American Nuclear Society recognizes two nuclear historic landmarks

The Nuclear Historic Landmarks honored are:
AREVA Chalon / St. Marcel Site - The St. Marcel plant, set on 87.5 acres near Chalon-sur-Saône in the Burgundy region of France, was established in 1973 in an area with a long history of specialized metalworking and mechanical activities in order to meet the demand for non-military nuclear requirements in France. Since its completion in 1975, the AREVA Chalon / St. Marcel Plant has successfully demonstrated its uninterrupted capacity to manufacture more than 500 high quality heavy components for nuclear plants worldwide. Francois Martineau, Marketing and Client Support Manager, accepted the award on behalf of AREVA.
Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. - Located in East Tennessee within the Smoky Mountains, Nuclear Fuel Services is recognized for contributions to the development and production of nuclear materials, the advancement of nuclear chemical processing and technology, and excellence in nuclear materials management. The site has more than 60 acres, including a 21-acre Protected Area that meets or exceeds all U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) and security requirements for a Category 1 Facility. Randy Shackelford, Nuclear Criticality Safety Manager, accepted the award on behalf of Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc.
