ANS to host global meeting on nuclear

Leaders across the nuclear scientific community will convene at the 2007 American Nuclear Society (ANS)/ European Nuclear Society (ENS) International Meeting and Nuclear Technology Expo. The meeting will take place in Washington, DC November 11-15 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

Monday's Opening Plenary , "Making the Renaissance Real," will begin at 8:30 a.m. with welcome remarks from the ANS Honorary Chair and Consultant Donald C. Hintz and the ENS Honorary Chair and BNFL Group Director David R. Bonser. The Plenary will also feature four speakers, Jeffrey R. Immelt, President and CEO, General Electric Company; the Honorable Tom Carper, U.S. Senator-Delaware; Adolfo Garcia Rodriguez, CEO, Empresarios Agrupados; and the Honorable Eileen Claussen, President, Pew Center on Global Climate Change.

The ANS/ENS Honorary Cochair's Special Session titled, "Government Policy's Impact on Nuclear's Future: What Every Voter Needs to Know," will start at 1 p.m. and feature, Clarence H. Albright, Under Secretary of Energy, U.S. Department of Energy, John H. Sununu, President, JHS Associates, Ltd. and Richard J. Myers, Vice President, Policy Development, Nuclear Energy Institute.
