New American Nuclear Society president takes office

In 2004 Hintz retired as president of the Entergy Corporation where he was instrumental in bringing all of Entergy's plants to top industry performance. While at Entergy he led the 1999 purchase of the Pilgrim plant in Massachusetts, setting the stage for four additional plant acquisitions in later years.
Hintz remains very active in the nuclear field. In 2004 he was elected to the board of directors for the Entergy Corporation and Ontario Power Generation. He also chairs the Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited's International Technical Advisory Committee, and serves on the Electric Power Research Institute's board of directors. In addition, he remains a member on an advisory board at the University of Wisconsin.
Hintz has been a member of ANS for 35 years. In 1995 he received the ANS Utility Leadership Award for his leadership and contributions to the success of the nuclear power industry; and in 2004 he received the ANS Future Vision Award in recognition of his dedication to the nuclear industry as a visionary.
Hintz and several other new officers and board of director members officially took office at the end of the ANS Board of Directors meeting on June 28, 2007 in Boston.
