Outreach Department offers assistance for outreach to students and teachers

The ANS Public Information/Outreach Department (contact via e-mail or phone 708-352-6611) has printed materials available for all grade levels. There are exhibits for use at Career Fairs, science teacher conferences, and other public events. We have experience in working with individual members and Sections as they make classroom visits; we can provide suggestions about materials appropriate for various grade levels.

Teachers often welcome experts who can provide factual information about topics for which they feel their knowledge is limited. Nuclear science and technology and their many applications are one such area for many teachers. ANS Members and Sections can provide their expertise via classroom visits and presentations, participation in career events, and through teacher workshops.

The upcoming "World Year of Physics 2005: Einstein in the 21st Century" (http://www.physics2005.org/) provides an excellent connection for approaching teachers with an offer of making a classroom visit or with an invitation to a teacher workshop.

Contact the ANS Outreach Department early, as advance notice is needed to prepare and ship materials (at least 2-3 weeks to assure availability). Exhibit requests usually require additional advance notice.
