National Engineers Week February 16-22, 2003

The ANS Washington Office has prepared a report comparing the House and Senate Appropriations subcommittees versions of the 2003 Energy and Water Development appropriations bills.
Turning Ideas into Reality

ANS is proud to be a contributing society to National Engineers Week that is celebrated in February of each year. ANS members coordinate programs and activities at schools and public events to educate students and others about the important role played by engineers-particularly nuclear engineers-in our present and future well-being.

The ANS Outreach Department has mailed "volunteer kits" to the chairs of local sections, student sections, and plant branches. The information and materials in the kits will help plan programs and activities in communities throughout the United States.

Members who would like to organize an event in their communities may contact the Outreach Department via e-mail to receive a "volunteer kit". (Deadline for requests is January 31.)

"It is the very nature of the engineer to design and build. Some engineering feats capture the imagination while we hardly seem to notice others that we use every day. During National Engineers Week 2003, we hope that you will help celebrate the contributions engineers make to our quality of life. And, help youngsters imagine engineering in their future." -Donald G. Colliver, Ph.D., P.E., President, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, 2003 Chair, National Engineers Week.
