Scholarship Programs
Two–Year Programs
Application Deadline: April 1
- The Kent W. Hamlin Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to two-year associate degree students who are participating in the U.S. nuclear power industry's Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP). Award amount: $2,000
- NEED Scholarship Award for Community College and Trade School - Awarded to students with a greater than normal financial need, enrolled in a two-year program planning a career in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Up to four (4) awarded annually at $2,500.
NOTE: Students may receive no more than three NEED scholarships (this includes Landis, Delayed Education for Women (DEW) and Community College/Trade School) over the course of their undergraduate and graduate studies.
Undergraduate Scholarships
Application Deadline: April 1
Must complete the ANS Incoming Freshmen Scholarship Application
- ANS Incoming Freshmen Scholarships - Awarded to graduating high-school seniors who have enrolled, full-time, in college courses and are pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and courses with an interest in working in nuclear science and technology. Up to four (4) awarded annually at $1,000

Must complete the ANS General Application
- ANS Incoming Sophomore Scholarships - Awarded to sophomore students (completed one year) in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Up to four (4) awarded annually at $2,000.
- ANS Undergraduate Scholarships - Awarded to juniors and senior students (completed two or more years) in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Up to 4 awarded annually at $2,000.
- Operations and Power Division Scholarship (OPD) – Juniors and Seniors. Two (2) awarded annually at $2,500.
- Angelo F. Bisesti Memorial Scholarship (OPD) – Award amount: $2,000
- Joseph R. Dietrich Memorial Scholarship – Award amount: $2,000
- Raymond DiSalvo Memorial Scholarship (NISD) – Award amount: $2,000
- William R. and Mila Kimel Undergraduate Engineering Scholarship – Award amount: $2,000
- Robert G. Lacy Memorial Scholarship (OPD) – Award amount: $2,000.
- Robert T. (Bob) Liner Scholarship – Award amount: $2,000.

- Accelerator Applications Division Scholarship (AAD) – Juniors only. Award amount: $2,000 ($1,000 Junior year/$1,000 senior year).
- Decommissioning, and Environmental Science Division Undergraduate Scholarship (DESD) – Award amount: $2,000
- ANS Fusion Energy Division Dr. Kenneth R. Schultz Undergraduate Scholarship – Award amount $2,500
- Charles (Tommy) Thomas Memorial Scholarship (DESD) – Award amount: $2,000.
- John R. Lamarsh Scholarship (ETWDD) – Award amount: $2,000.
- Hans P. Loewen Scholarship (YMG) – Awarded to a graduating high-school senior, a college freshman or sophomore who has enrolled full-time, in college courses and is pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). Award amount: $2,000.
- Joseph Naser Undergraduate Scholarship (HFICD) – Award Amount: $2,000.
- Rudi Stamm'ler Undergraduate Reactor Physics Division Scholarship (RPD) – Award amount: $3,000.
- James R. Vogt Radiochemistry Scholarship (IRD) – Undergraduate (junior and senior) and graduate (first or second year of graduate study). Award amount: $3,000.
- ANS Pittsburgh Local Section Undergraduate Scholarship – geographic restrictions. Award amount: $2,000.
- ANS Washington, DC Local Section Undergraduate Scholarship – geographic restrictions. Award amount: $2,500.
ANS Graduate Scholarships
Application Deadline: Feb 1

- ANS Graduate Scholarships – Awarded to full-time graduate students in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Up to four (4) awarded annually at $3,000.
- Verne R. Dapp Memorial Scholarship (odd years) – Award amount $3,000.
- Walter Meyer Scholarship for Nuclear Information and Energy Policy (even years). Award amount: $3,000

- Everitt P. Blizard Memorial Scholarship (RPSD) – Award amount: $3,000.
- Robert A. Dannels Memorial Scholarship (MCD) – Award amount: $3,500.
- Decommissioning, and Environmental Science Division Graduate Scholarship (DESD) – Award amount: $3,000
- Ely M. Gelbard Graduate Scholarship (MCD) – Award amount $3,500
- Allan F. Henry/Paul A. Greebler Scholarship (RPD/NISD) – Award amount: $3,500.
- Saul Levine Memorial Scholarship (NISD) – Award amount: $3,000.
- Michael J. Lineberry Memorial Scholarship – (ETWDD/FCWMD/RPD) . Award amount: $3,000.
- Nuclear Criticality Safety Pioneers Scholarship (NCSD) – Award amount: $3,000.
- Pittsburgh Local Section Graduate Scholarship – geographic restrictions. Award amount: $3,500.
- Fuel Cycle and Waste Management Division John Randall Scholarship (FCWMD) – Award amount: $5,000.
- James F. Schumar Scholarship (MSTD) – Award amount: $3,000.
- Robert E. Uhrig Graduate Scholarship (HFICD) – Award amount: $4,000.
Need Committee Scholarships

Must completed the application with the appropriate name
NOTE: A student may receive no more than three NEED scholarships (this includes Landis, DEW, and community college/trade school) over the course of their undergraduate and graduate studies.
- John and Muriel Landis Scholarships (NEED Committee) – Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who have greater than average financial need. Consideration is given to conditions or experiences that render the student disadvantaged (poor high school/undergraduate preparation, due to poverty). Up to nine (9) awarded annually at $5,000.
- Delayed Education Scholarship for Women (DEW) – Awarded to a mature woman whose undergraduate studies in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field have been delayed. Award amount: $5,000.
